Landscape Project Portfolio

"Our objective was to add an outdoor living space adjacent to our home that would complement and connect to the natural vegetation on an adjacent hillside. The project included installation of patio pavers, a pond with waterfall, plantings, stone walkway and steps, and a large custom arbor. Photos of the completed project can be viewed on this site in the Image Gallery section (see "Trepanier project"). We couldn't be more pleased with the end result. From the start, owner Alan Burke was a pleasure to work with. He listened (patiently) to our ideas, and as befits a true professional offered intuitive suggestions and options we hadn't considered. Alan emphasizes clear communication, evidenced by making sure we understood each option, its cost, and possible trade-offs to make sure we stayed within budget. The project itself went very smoothly. Workmen were punctual, courteous, paid attention to detail, and we considered them craftsmen more than laborers. All contributed greatly to a completed project that in many ways exceeded our expectations. We continue to enjoy this "extension" to our home, and never hesitate to recommend Classic to guests, friends and neighbors in our Hunters Glen homeowners association."

A focus on firepits

A well constructed and carefully positioned firepit can become a cozy family gathering space, a secluded spot for contemplation and a source of warmth and a nice visual accent. We can make firepits in many ways - in the "boy-scout" style, basically tumbled large igneous boulders set in a circle, or we can build a modular stone square or circle - or place a prefabricated or portable unit for wood or gas. We can also source a portable architectural unit or build them in galvanized metal...there are lots of possibilities and ideas to keep you warm. C'mon! Break out the 'smores!

Services Provided:

  • Accent Rocks

We do a lot of work in rock, from small boulders to river cobble, flagstone, and large boulders. Set by our experienced crews by hand or with a large trackhoe, rocks typically installed are local basalt and granite.

With many other styles, shapes, colors and textures to choose from, we'll make it easy for you to sort through the types and sizes of rock available.

  • Patios

We do a lot of patios. Keep in mind that you may need a slightly bigger space than you think to set a four-person table where you can still move your chair back without stepping onto the adjacent lawn or bed area.

First you determine the shape and then you choose the materials. We'll give you a catalog showing stone selections as well as other types of paving to help you choose. You can also visit our sample library in Redmond for more information.

Add pots and a few Adirondack chairs and...well, suffice it to say that we have to look at the size carefully.

  • Miscellaneous

We can also coordinate the construction of all types of outdoor amenities, from pools to sport courts and spas.

Working with us to design this type of construction offers some distinct advantages for you as a client. We design the feature to fit within a budget framework and solicit competitive bids on your behalf as part of your landscape architectural design package.

Most importantly, these features fit within the overall site design, integrating with planting and other construction. We show you how to stage this effort to minimize site damage and perform the construction efficiently.
